Mango Nutrition

The production of quality and quantity mangoes necessitates the appropriate nutrition, which comprises the provision of both macro and micronutrients.

Macronutrients, such as Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, and Sulphur, are required by the mango tree in relatively larger quantities.

On the other hand, micronutrients, including Copper, Iron, Zinc, Manganese, and Boron, are needed in smaller amounts.

To supply these nutrients, one can utilize basal fertilizers and apply foliar feeds.

For soils that lack organic matter, the application of manure is essential. It releases its nutrients gradually throughout the growth period and also contributes organic matter to the soil.

Conducting a soil test prior to planting is advisable as it aids in assessing the soil’s fertility level.

Importance of a proper nutrition in mango trees

The following benefits can be achieved through the use of proper nutrition:

  1. Promotes early and robust plant growth.
  2. Enhances yield and increases tree productivity.
  3. Maintains consistent and vigorous growth over time.
  4. Improves fruit setting and retention.
  5. Reduces fruit drop and prevents deformities or storage issues.
  6. Boosts the plant’s vitality and reduces skin disorders.
  7. Enhances fruit quality, including appearance, shape, flavor, and taste.

By ensuring the provision of adequate nutrition, these outcomes can be achieved.

FERTILIZER APPLICATION

Mango trees have distinct nutrient requirements that vary throughout their various growth and development stages. Consequently, it is crucial to apply fertilizers at the appropriate time and in the correct quantities to achieve optimal outcomes.

To achieve the best results, it is necessary to adjust the nutrient supply schedule in accordance with the specific growth and development stages of mango trees.

Early growth stage

This refers to the period starting from sowing and continuing through germination/sprouting, as well as several weeks following the emergence of seedlings.

To accelerate and achieve uniform germination, it is beneficial to soak the seeds in OPTIMIZER at a ratio of 20ml per 1 liter of water for a duration of 6-12 hours. Additionally, OPTIMIZER facilitates the rapid establishment of grafts by promoting speedy rooting.

During this stage, it is recommended to spray the trees with any of the following options: LAVENDER at a ratio of 20ml per 20 liters of water, GOLDCHANCE SUPER START at a ratio of 50g per 20 liters of water, LEGENDARY at a ratio of 40ml per 20 liters of water, PLANT SOUL at a ratio of 20ml per 20 liters of water, or ZINC GOLD at a ratio of 10ml per 20 liters of water.

Moreover, the application of DAP fertilizer is essential during this growth stage.

By utilizing these fertilizers, the necessary nutrients required for this delicate growth stage are provided.

Juvenile stage

During this stage, the seedlings progress into young trees, and their energy is primarily allocated towards rapid vegetative growth.

The purpose of this stage is to generate food reserves for the subsequent phase, which involves flowering and fruiting. To support this growth, the application of nitrogenous fertilizers is highly recommended.

To facilitate healthy growth, it is advisable to spray the trees with either LAVENDER at a ratio of 20ml per 20 liters of water or GOLDCHANCE SUPER GROWTH at a ratio of 50g per 20 liters of water.

Additionally, it is beneficial to top dress the trees with CAN fertilizer.

To ensure an adequate nutrient supply, other nitrogenous basal fertilizers such as N.P.K 23.23.0 can also be applied.

Flowering, fruit set & maturity stage

This stage encompasses the formation of flower buds, flowering, fruit set, and the eventual maturation of the fruits.

To support these processes, it is recommended to spray the trees with any of the following options: GOLDCHANCE SUPER FLOWERS & FRUITS at a ratio of 50g per 20 liters of water, DIMIPHITE at a ratio of 20ml per 20 liters of water, GREENPHITE at a ratio of 40ml per 20 liters of water, or LEGENDARY at a ratio of 40ml per 20 liters of water.

These fertilizers play a role in stimulating flowering, promoting optimal fruit set and quality, increasing fruit size, sustaining growth, and maintaining yield, among other benefits.

Additionally, the productivity and overall quality of the fruits can be improved by using BIODISTINCTION XTRA, EURO GOLD, VITABOR GOLD, and FERRARI GOLD. These fertilizers aid in achieving good fruit set, preventing fruit and flower abortion, and enhancing the overall fruit quality.

To provide sufficient potassium, it is advisable to apply basal fertilizers rich in potassium, such as N.P.K 17.17.17.

Please note the following:

  • Spray the trees with OPTIMIZER at a ratio of 10ml per 20 liters of water at any stage of growth. This biostimulant encourages faster growth, helps the trees withstand stressful conditions, adds nutrients to the growing plants, stimulates shoot growth, and facilitates chlorophyll development for photosynthesis, among other functions.
  • Incorporate INTEGRA at a ratio of 3ml per 20 liters of water in all foliar sprays. This sticker, spreader, and penetrant enhance the absorption of fertilizers by the foliage of the crop.
  • Mix all basal fertilizers and manures with HUMIPOWER, which enriches the soil with organic matter, optimizes pH levels for nutrient availability, reduces leaching, and minimizes runoff, among other benefits.
  • It is recommended to repeat the foliar feed spray on a weekly basis.
